The NBA G League will have 26 teams this season, with the addition of four expansion teams: the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (L.A. The Minnesota Timberwolves purchased the Iowa Energy and renamed the team to the Iowa Wolves and the Orlando Magic purchased the previous Erie franchise. The Magic’s NBA G League team, the Lakeland Magic, will debut this season.

With the addition of four expansion teams and two teams being purchased, the conferences and divisions have shifted. This season, the NBA G League has added the Southeast Division to the Eastern Conference. The Southeast Division consists of the Delaware 87ers, Erie BayHawks, Greensboro Swarm and Lakeland Magic. Delaware and Greensboro come to the Southeast Division from the Atlantic Division. The Lakeland Magic, previously the Erie BayHawks, also come from the Atlantic Division. The Atlantic Division now consists of four teams, which include the Long Island Nets, Maine Red Claws, Raptors 905 and Westchester Knicks. The 905 join the Atlantic Division from the Central Division. The Central Division, having lost Raptors 905, gained the Wisconsin Herd. The Canton Charge, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Grand Rapids Drive, Wisconsin Herd and Windy City Bulls make up the Central Division.

The Western Conference also added a new division, the Midwest Division, which consists of the Iowa Wolves, Oklahoma City Blue, Memphis Hustle and Sioux Falls Skyforce. Iowa, Oklahoma City and Sioux Falls all join the Midwest Division from the Southwest Division. The Southwest Division is made up of the Austin Spurs, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Salt Lake City Stars and Texas Legends. The Pacific Division is the largest division in the Western Conference with a total of five teams. The Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, Northern Arizona Suns, Reno Bighorns, Santa Cruz Warriors and South Bay Lakers are all set to compete in the Pacific Division.

The BayHawks will play each of its Southeast Division opponents four times throughout the 2017-18 season, twice home and twice away. Erie is set to take on the defending champion Raptors 905 three times this season, twice at home and once away. The Raptors 905 will make their first trip to Erie Insurance Arena on Friday, Jan 5. The non-conference home matches are highlighted by games versus the new-look South Bay Lakers on Dec. 21, the Santa Cruz Warriors on Dec. 30 and the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario on Feb. 7. Two additional regular season games will be played at the NBA G League Showcase, which will be held in Mississauga, Ontario from Jan. 10-13.

The BayHawks will play nine sets of back-to-back games this season, down from 11 last year. Erie will host a total of 17 home weekend contests and seven home weekday contests. Of those 17 home weekend games, eight will be played on a Friday, eight on a Saturday and one on a Sunday. The BayHawks will play 12 games in the month of November, the most games in any given month this season. Erie’s on the road for eight contests in November, which includes a four-game road trip, the BayHawks’ longest of the season (Nov. 24-Nov. 29). Erie plays a season-high seven home games in December. The BayHawks will play a four-game homestand, their longest of the season, from Jan. 28-Feb. 7.
