ERIE, PA – The Erie BayHawks, NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, announced today the acquisition of forward Raphiael Putney. Putney will be active for tonight’s game against the Maine Red Claws.
The BayHawks selected Putney in the ninth round of the 2017 NBA G League Expansion Draft. Putney (6-10, 185), most recently spent time overseas playing for Chalon-Sur-Saone of the French LNB Pro A. In four games (three starts) for Chalon-Sur-Saone, Putney registered 7.0 points on .591 shooting from the floor, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 15.2 minutes of play. He also appeared in one game for Chalon-Sur-Saone in the Basketball Champions League, notching four points in 12.2 minutes.
Putney comes to the BayHawks with prior NBA G League experience, having spent two seasons suiting up for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2015-17). In two seasons with Rio Grande Valley, Putney appeared in 72 games (42 starts), owning averages of 13.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.8 blocks in 24.2 minutes of action.
The excitement begins at Erie Insurance Arena when the BayHawks open up their 10th season tonight at 7:00 PM against the Maine Red Claws.
