BayHawks Acquire Guard John Gillon

Erie, PA – The Erie BayHawks, NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, acquired guard John Gillon from the available player pool, it was announced today. Erie has also waived guard Daesung Lee.

Gillon (6-0, 178) appeared in five games for the Texas Legends this season, averaging 3.6 points and 1.4 assists in 9.4 minutes of play. He played collegiately for Little Rock (2012-13), Colorado State (2014-16) and Syracuse (2016-17). In his lone season for the Orange, Gillon appeared in 34 games (23 starts), tallying 10.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, a team-best 5.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 29.9 minutes of play. In that same season, Gillon sunk a Syracuse-record 48 consecutive free throws, which equaled the third longest streak in ACC history.

Daesung Lee had appeared in 11 games for the BayHawks this season, averaging 2.5 points and 1.1 assists in 8.6 minutes. Erie selected Lee with the 20th overall pick in the 2017 NBA G League Draft.

The BayHawks will travel to Portland, Maine to take on the Red Claws for the third time this season on Friday, December 8th. Erie will be back at the friendly confines of Erie Insurance Arena on Wednesday, December 13th, to take on the Wisconsin Herd.
