JOSH LONGSTAFF FINISHES THIRD IN NBA G LEAGUE COACH OF THE YEAR VOTING
ERIE, PA – Erie BayHawks Head Coach Josh Longstaff finished third in NBA G League Coach of the Year voting, the league announced today. Westchester’s Mike Miller and Austin’s Blake Ahearn finished first and second, respectively.
Under Coach Longstaff, the BayHawks finished the 2017-18 regular season with a 28-22 (.560) overall record, tying the second-best record in franchise history. Longstaff’s BayHawks recorded a 17-7 (.708) record over the final 24 games of the season, clinching the Southeast Division on the final day of the regular season, the franchise’s first-ever division title. During the 2017-18 regular season, the BayHawks ranked second in blocks per game (6.4) and fifth in assists per game (23.9). Erie swiped 9.7 steals per game, which was good for seventh-best in the NBA G League.
Erie will travel to Fort Wayne to take on the Mad Ants in the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Tuesday. The BayHawks took down the Lakeland Magic on Saturday, 96-90, to advance to the second round of the 2018 NBA G League Playoffs. This is the first time in franchise history the BayHawks have advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Tuesday’s contest will be aired nationally on ESPNU and the WatchESPN App, with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m.
