Jeremy Evans Named NBA G League Player of the Week

ERIE, PA – Erie BayHawks forward Jeremy Evans has been named NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, December 25th through Sunday, December 31st, it was announced today. The honor is the first for the BayHawks this season.

Evans (6-9, 196) appeared in three games (all starts) for the BayHawks this past week, leading Erie to a 2-1 record, which includes a two-game winning streak. He finished the week with 24.3 points on an impressive .833 (30-36) shooting from the field, 12.7 rebounds (5.3 offensive) and 2.3 blocks in 33.6 minutes of action. He notched a double-double in each of his three games.

Evans recorded team highs in points in each game played last week, including a season-high 32 points on 13-17 (.765) shooting from the field against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Saturday, December 30th. In that game, the Warriors held a six-point, 96-90, lead heading into the fourth quarter. Evans paced Erie in the final quarter of that contest, netting 11 points on 5-6 (.833) shooting and five rebounds. He did not shoot under .750 in any contest last week. In addition to his 32 points on 13-17 (.765) shooting against Santa Cruz, Evans also netted 22 points on 8-9 (.889) shooting at Long Island (Dec. 26) and 19 points on 9-10 (.900) against Fort Wayne (Dec. 28). Evans is also shot .750 (3-4) from three-point territory over those three games.

The 6-9 forward pulled down game highs in rebounds in each of his three games, including a season-high tying 15 boards against the Long Island Nets on Tuesday, December 26th. It marked the third time this season Evans has recorded 15 rebounds in a single game. Against the Warriors on Saturday, December 30th, Evans compiled eight offensive rebounds (13 total). His eight rebounds marked a BayHawks season-best for offensive rebounds in a game this season.

In 17 games (all starts) this season, Evans is averaging 16.3 points on .624 (108-137) shooting from the floor, 10.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.0 steal in 29.5 minutes per game. His 10.4 rebounds ties him for third-most in the NBA G League this season.

The BayHawks will be back in action tomorrow night for a road contest with the Delaware 87ers. Erie will come back home for a pair of games this weekend, before heading north of the border to Mississauga for the 2018 NBA G League Showcase.
